Fair trade has recently gained popularity because of governments intentions to alleviate poverty and to aim for sustainable development. Also there is the case that public opinions has become favorable to it and are giving their total support to this cause. The objective of fair trade is to make sure that the economies of least developed countries undergo a sustainable development. This is necessary in order to stop the gap between rich and poor from becoming wider. Indeed fair trade is the basis for sustainable development because without the former we cannot have the latter.
