While no hearing loss is easy, and all hearing loss causes difficulty in everyday functioning and the quality of daily life, mixed hearing loss is often especially difficult to experience and to treat.
There are two main types of hearing loss, sensorineural hearing loss and conductive hearing loss.

Ninety percent of those with a hearing loss suffer from sensorineural hearing loss, while conductive hearing loss accounts for most of the rest. Those with a mixed hearing loss, however, suffer from a combination of both types of hearing loss.
