This is what we really mean when we use terms like weight loss or lose weight. It’s fat that is the problem and fat that we need to focus on. Who cares what you weigh if you’re healthy and have little body fat and can wear your “skinny clothes.” Imagine how bad this has become, we actually have “fat clothes” and “skinny clothes”. Remember when you just had clothes?
Seriously, the issue about unhealthy edible manufactured products (notice I didn’t call it food), our general love for this toxic waste and the repercussion of fatter bodies, illness and lower self esteem is a major problem. It has gotten to a point where we as a whole accept the fact that kids are now overweight and unhealthy. Yes, overweight AND unhealthy. You can’t escape it, they go hand in hand. Heck, I remember when there was one “fat kid” in class, now it’s the look of the day. My personal opinion is that when a child is allowed to become overweight to the point where it is unhealthy, embarrassing and makes life difficult, that’s almost criminal on the pat of the parent. I say this because those fat kids end up as clients in my office or an office somewhere else trying to figure out what went wrong and how to get back to being who they really are instead of a person who ended up on a lifelong weight loss journey. So if you are a parent, pay close attention when I reveal the secret and know that kids can do this too.
